$20 Million Multi-State Settlement

29 states entering into a $20 million settlement with The MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company; Mid-West National Life Insurance Company of Tennessee; and The Chesapeake Life Insurance Company. The settlement comes after a multi-state exam of the companies in 2005 initiated by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners found problems with the companies’ claims and complaint handling practices; oversight and training of agents; and consumer disclosure.

The jurisdictions adopting the settlement agreement thus far include: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Blagojevich Administration unveils $10.9 Billion Multi-Year Highway Improvement Program. The Blagojevich Administration today unveiled a $10.875 billion Multi-year Highway Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2009-2014 for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
